What if you owned a franchise that was so in demand that school students lobbied to get your business brought to their campus?
This was the case with HUMAN Healthy Vending franchisees Stuart and Lori James, based in Modesto, CA, who secured a contract with Grace Davis High School after the local school’s student government lobbied for a healthy vending machine.
There are two compelling reasons why schools are looking for healthier and more profitable alternative to the average junk-food vending machine: underfunded school programs that are consistently in need of outside funding and the Smart Snacks In School rules, which go into effect next July.
At a recent sampling event held at Grace Davis, students in the school’s leadership class were happy to help Lori and Stuart James with passing out samples while also sampling the snacks themselves. The result: they loved them! According to the Modesto Bee article covering the event, “most kids say they like the new offerings and planned to buy them.” To read the full article about how students at Grace Davis High School jumped in to help provide their classmates with better-for-you snack choices, please click below.
As a husband and wife team with two school-aged children, the health and nutrition of kids is especially close to the James’ hearts. “Lori and I really feel a responsibility to take charge and ensure the next generations grow up with increased access to healthful snacks and more education surrounding how to eat healthfully,” said Stuart.
What if you, too, owned a business where consumers came knocking on your door?
